My People and Place module had me out shooting buildings for the 'Buildings in Use' assignment. This is the business meeting space at the Dave Stephens Centre at South Beach, just down the road from me.
Up and out just after sunrise to catch the new baby in the Jenkins household
James
It's very rare that I get a chance to photograph guys.......a lot of the male models are more stereotypically 'bimbo-ish' than the blonde glamour girls........and I get no real buzz from oiled pecs and shaved body parts! This was James' first shoot which (had I realised it at the time) would have led to me being much more supportive and helpful than I was but he seemed to enjoy it anyway and we got a couple of cracking shots as the light faded (rapidly!) making up to teatime on a cold November afternoon.
Compare this woodland session with the coastal images from my previous shoot with Stephanie and you are hard pressed to tell it's the same model - nature goddess converts into sexy high fashion vamp. Great catwalk look with strong make-up artistry from the lovely Jo Birkett.
The weather conditions and Steph's colouring meant that I had a lot of options when processing the final images selected. I deliberately kept the colour temperature of this one cool - even more so than the 'beauty' shot that was the first in the series - but you can see from the landscape format one that follows this image warmer tones worked well too.
Commercial shot for the Phoenix Theatre at Blyth, Northumberland.
'The man on the pier' taken just down the road from me early one winter's morning
Taken down at the harbour yacht club...........mist doing its best to disguise the similarity to the south of France!
